Hello friends, we’re happy to say that you have another chance to see Brainwashed Love here in Los Angeles. Our film was chosen to be a part of the La Femme Film Festival and will be screened on Friday October 14th at 2pm.
We’re so happy to have a chance to share Brainwashed Love with everyone, especially since it will be screened in the beautiful Renberg Theater.

While the last few weeks leading up to our screening were super stressful, everything came together at the end. We finally were able to show our film to our cast, crew and some dear friends. It was so exciting and we got so much great feedback from people. We’re so happy to have our film finally out there and hopefully we’ll be able to have many more screenings in the future so more people can see it.
In the mean time, here are a few photos from the event. We caught a few, and were lucky enough to have a photo booth from Polite in Public to snag some more.
Check out our Brainwashed Love limited edition invites, handmade in the late summer of 2010 by Shawn Bannon & Alix Large (co-writers and producers of the movie). Thanks to those of you who requested an invite way back in May. And of course a gianormous thanks to all of the awesome people who worked on the movie. We already ran out of our 1st edition. We will make a few more for our cast & crew who didn’t receive one yet. We will possibly make a 2nd edition for some of our future screenings.
Unofficially the World Premiere of Brainwashed Love will be on October 1st, 2010. We start submitting to film festivals in June :) and it will take a few months to see if we get into any cool festivals. We have decided to premiere the movie in early October of 2010. Sorry for the long wait. It’s driving us crazy too. But the movie does begin on Halloween and it feels like a mortal sin to premiere Brainwashed Love in the summer when Halloween is right around the corner. Of course everyone is invited to the L.A. premiere. We’re going to try to get a venue where we can have an open invitation. We would love to do the same in Columbus Ohio and New York City so if you wanna help us book a venue that would be terrific.

Finally the Brainwashed Love Teaser Trailer. Brainwashed Love is the first feature film of Shawn Bannon & Alix Large. I’m happy to present to you the first trailer for Brainwashed Love. I edited the trailer myself (Shawn Bannon) and considering I used to edit trailers for a living I just kept thinking to myself over and over again that I could do whatever I wanted with the Brainwashed Love trailer. So my goal was to have it represent the movie faithfully but to have fun with it at the same time. After watching the trailer you can tell if Brainwashed Love is your cup of tea. Please enjoy.

Sorry for the delay but we will be putting up the Brainwashed Love trailer the first week of January.
We’re not 100% done but we are getting closer and closer to locking our edit. I know we said we would lock the edit in early November but we’re still finessing the movie and we added a couple of new shots. We’ve had two test screenings and gotten some really encouraging feedback. We’re being as resourceful as humanly possible to make this the best movie we can. Our budget is razor thin so everyone who gets involved with Brainwashed Love has made a huge impact. We thank all of you who have helped us out.
We had our first test screening on October 1st, 2009. The screening went very well and was invaluable to the production. We have shot additional coverage since our screening and we’ve fine tuned the edit several times, we are very close to our final cut. We’ll have one more test screening in the next 2 weeks. Then we’re locking the edit in early November with a target premiere date in early 2010. Once we lock the edit in November we’ll be focusing on sound design and color correction. But the important thing as of this moment is we have a complete film that we are extremely proud of. Thanks to all of you who have helped us out along the way. There is no way this movie could of been made without the passion, the help and encouraging advice of our friends and family.
We shot one more official day on Brainwashed Love and it was a lot of fun. There is a nice little surprise at the end of the movie. And the wrap party is coming soon so keep in touch.
Editing Brainwashed Love is in process. It’s going well but there is a lot of work to be done still. Music and sound design will be started in the next few weeks. Check back for our thoughts on our experience with independent feature filmmaking.
It’s been a long journey and an enormous amount of work to get to this point. I want to thank all of you for your hard work and endless dedication to Brainwashed Love. As many of you know, this entire film was paid for out of our own pockets. We had been talking about making a feature for about a year but when we both lost our jobs we decided take the little savings we had and sell as much stuff as possible so we could put our ideas into action. Now our bank accounts are empty and our credit cards maxed out but we have shot 20 days of mind-blowingly good footage for our first feature. So here we are enjoying breakfast at Hugo’s the morning after wrapping principal photography. We could not have come this far without all of you and we appreciate your encouragement, commitment and enthusiasm to keep Brainwashed Love on it’s toes. So now we are on to post production and a few days of pick up shots. We’ll keep you up to date every few weeks so please check back and e-mail us if you still want to get involved.
Three weeks of shooting. It’s been a lot of work and a lot of fun. Thank you for all of your help. One solid week of shooting left. Thank you for putting in the countless hours and endless nights to make Brainwashed Love an awesome movie. There are a lot more photos on the way so please take a look back soon. And I will of course post the tiny behind the scenes video I shot last night in the next week or so.
My fellow Cal Arts friends have come through to push Brainwashed Love to a higher level. As many of you know, this is a self-financed film that depends entirely on the work of all involved. When you collaborate with top notch talent, it pushes you to work that much harder. Everyone’s hard work and commitment is making this production exceed our wildest dreams. Thanks to everyone for struggling through the sleepless nights, the unloading and loading, and fighting to fit everything into the tiny amount of time we have to finish everything. Thanks to the volunteers who work with us in hot, foggy sets for hours with no reward other than some pizza and soda. Thanks to our extras who danced in masks and coats to the same song on repeat or no song at all. A huge thanks goes to our cinematographer, Helder, for devoting just as much of his life to this project as us, with little to no crew to help him and making everything look mind-blowingly good. And now we have Ally on our team, to do all the grunt work of sifting through the badly slated takes and rendering out days of footage, before she can even work her magic on the edit. We can’t thank you guys enough. You’re amazing.
Yes We are shooting. Yes it’s for real. Yes it is an insane amount of work.
